The bond between dogs and their owners is often unbreakable. Dogs are known for their extreme loyalty and deep affection for their owners. And many dog owners love their fur-babies like they would love their own children. If you're reading this, I assume this describes YOU!

The loyalty, the love, that we receive from our dogs is unparalleled. We honestly don't deserve them... Amiright??

And while your bond with your dog might already be strong, you can make it even stronger through training sessions!

Positive Reinforcement Training

Positive reinforcement is the way to go in order to strengthen your bond through training.

Why positive reinforcement? Well, basically, your pup will never hear these words: "No!," "Bad!," or "Wrong!"

Instead, they will only be praised and rewarded for what they do correctly. This is exactly why positive reinforcement training is so effective! Dogs (well, ANY animal, really) are more likely to repeat behaviors that are rewarding for them.

Over time, your dog will learn to LOVE training sessions, and they will gain confidence, as well as even MORE trust in you.

Dogs really enjoy learning new behaviors. They even love lessons in obedience! Especially when they have YOUR attention, YOUR praise, and rewards from YOU.

Positive reinforcement training isn't successful overnight, though. It takes a lot of patience and consistency.

The First Step...

The first step in positive reinforcement training is to figure out what is rewarding to your dog.

What I mean is, does your pup live for treats? for praise? for toys? for a loving touch from you?

You might think that dog treats are the best reward ever, but if your dog thinks that they are just mediocre, your training will suffer. Make sure to find and choose something that is truly fantastic, according to your pup.

When you choose to reward your dog with something that they love, they will associate their favorite things with YOU, which will strengthen your bond even more.

In Closing

We love our dogs SO FREAKING MUCH, right?? And we want them to continue to love us as much as they naturally seem to do. A great way to continue to strengthen that bond is through positive reinforcement training.

Positive reinforcement only rewards your pup, and never punishes them. They will learn to love training with you, and will be eager to learn new things during their sessions.

Stay patient, and stay consistent. Most importantly, find whatever it is that your pup LOVES to be rewarded with, and you'll be well on your way to building a stronger bond.
